About The Pertica Cafe

Tucked away near the river in Rivervale, this unpretentious dining room serves soulful, homestyle Thai cooking straight from family recipes. The owner runs the entire floor herself—taking orders at the counter before stepping behind the wok to turn out fragrant pad see ew, flaky curry puffs, and green curries simmered with real heat. Regulars grab a table outside on balmy evenings with their own six-pack, splitting platters of crisp snapper fillets glazed in sweet-tangy tamarind chilli sauce.

  • BYO drinks: Guests are welcome to bring their own beer or wine to pair with dinner.
  • Solo owner-operated kitchen: The owner personally greets guests, takes orders, and cooks every recipe from scratch.
  • Signature tamarind snapper: Fried snapper fillets tossed in sweet, sour, and spicy tamarind chilli rather than the usual barramundi.

    Thai tamarind fish is one of my favourite dishes, and the one at Pertica is seriously amazing. Perfect combo of sweet, sour, spicy & funky flavours with a light batter, and I love that they use snapper rather than barra.
