About Wards Central Dining

Set in a breezy corner of the old Shenton Park Hospital, Wards Central Dining nails relaxed weekend gatherings with house baking and sunlit lawns. High ceilings give way to an easy alfresco terrace adjoining open grass, letting kids roam while you settle in over shakshouka, house-made iced tea, or a hearty Irish breakfast. Early risers know to hit the pastry cabinet before the warm cinnamon scrolls disappear. Take home a crusty French baguette or grab a pork and fennel sausage roll pulled straight from the pie warmer.

  • House bakery counter: Cinnamon scrolls fresh from the oven, house-made custard donuts, and forearm-sized pork and fennel sausage rolls straight from the warmer.
  • Heritage grounds & leafy terrace: Occupies a historic former hospital building with high ceilings and an adjoining grassed parkland within clear line of sight.

Before you head over

Practical advice on timing, seating, and bakery treats for a seamless visit

  • Arrive early for freshly baked goods

Popular house-baked pastries such as the cinnamon scrolls and custard donuts are high in demand and can sell out during busy weekend mornings, so arrive early if you have your heart set on bakery items.

  • Opt for alfresco seating when visiting with kids

If you are dining with children, head for the alfresco dining tables adjoining the expansive lawn and playground area where kids can run around and play with outdoor sports gear within easy sight.

  • Plan ahead for weekend parking and peak hours

Weekend brunch hours get busy and parking can occasionally be a hassle around the precinct, so factor in extra time to find a bay or consider walking over if you are local with dogs.
