About Sail and Anchor

Right across from the Fremantle Markets, this heritage landmark pours rotating local craft taps across two sprawling levels. Climb the timber staircase to the market-side bar, or stake out a corner to catch the footy with an ice-cold draught. Regulars bypass standard fare for the hot-sauced spicy chicken ribs, thick cheesy garlic bread, and a crisp Caesar salad stacked with generous crunch. Up top, the Freemasons room carves out dedicated space for private bashes complete with an exclusive bar, balcony breeze, and steady snack platters—anchoring a no-nonsense Sunday session steeped in port-town character.

  • Heritage-Listed Layout: Two historic levels featuring partitioned drinking nooks, a timber staircase, and views overlooking the Fremantle Markets.
  • Rotating Local Taps: A steady rotation of limited-release local craft beers and classic cold draughts on tap.
  • Freemasons Function Suite: A dedicated upstairs space featuring its own bar, bartender, pool table, and balcony access for private milestones.

  • Fremantle Markets Vantage Point

Overlooking South Terrace and the lively Fremantle Markets, the venue offers an ideal vantage point to watch local street entertainment.

We sat upstairs on a Sunday morning and watched the entertainment in front of the freo markets. Highly recommend this.

  • Convenient Heart-of-Freo Stopover

Centrally located in the heart of Freo, it offers a reliable spot to walk in for hearty classic pub fare after wandering town.

Wandering around Freo and really fancied a decent pie. First two pubs didn't even have a pie on the menu. Sail & Anchor did though. Really nice pie, mash, peas and gravy.
