Do we need a four-wheel drive for a Perth-to-Esperance camping trip?

If off-road beaches are optional, rent the simpler vehicle and use accessible viewpoints. Road conditions can change after rain, so check again before each regional leg.

Choose the exact campsites and beach access points first, then check official park road advice and the rental contract. Do not take a hire car onto a prohibited track.

A standard car can cover sealed highways and many established towns, but individual beaches or camp tracks may require high clearance or four-wheel drive.
